Why personal training is so personal to me

At the age of 35, after finding myself in the fitness industry for what is now going on for almost 15 years, I’ve found a sense of peace in the work that I’ve done and the work that I continue to do with my new team at DBFitFocused.

Through what seems to be hundreds of clients and many relationships made throughout the years... Fitness has not only allowed me to lead a healthy lifestyle and to help others lead that lifestyle but also to find, what I believe to be, the importance and necessity of helping others and making their lives better. Recently I find myself dealing with an overwhelming drive to help my colleagues in the fitness industry,  and I’m also reminded why I hold this profession so dear to my heart more and more during this pandemic.

Fitness, both mentally and physically, I think, is the only way one can lead their most productive life. Having the ability to have the mental focus necessary followed by the physical actions needed to overcome our daily struggles, from the minor everyday details to the heavy, and sometimes, overwhelming realities that sooner or later catch up to us all.

My main reason behind my passion for fitness is simply this... fitness simply does not care about who you are, where you come from, your class, or status. Fitness is every human being trying to keep the same biological anatomy as healthy as possible for as long as possible. To be able to beat, or at the very least, slow down Father Time. To be able to live and not just live, but to thrive alongside our loved ones and to be with them for as long as we possibly can.

From athletes to CEOs, to stay at home moms and dads, and to the average health seeker who simply wants to be able to go through life pain-free and play with their kids and grandkids, I have trained and befriended them all at one time or another. It’s an exciting thing when you’re capable of changing someone’s mood and physically seeing their energy level change within that one hour of training. I’ve worked with therapists and doctors both personally and professionally. I can now honestly say that working out has the same benefits, if not more, of any medication that you can be prescribed and not only change you from a physical aspect but also provide so much mental clarity and positive energy that can be put towards all aspects of your life.  For me, I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to make a living by making other people’s lives better. By providing them a service with the primary objective of making them as healthy as possible and keeping them injury and pain-free so that they can live a long, healthy, and productive life.

I can honestly say that I go to sleep at night with a sense of pride and contentment, knowing that my team and I at DBFitFocused spent our day helping people become better versions of themselves. This is what I consider payment to the soul.
